Southwest Chic
Normally, southwest art makes me want to vomit. Thoughts of my parents living room, decorated with clay pots and hideous sun/cactus/native American theme wall hangings come to mind. However, this season some designers have actually managed to make the once tacky art wearable. The neutral toned color palette with pops of salmon and turquoise has stayed basically the same. It’s the updated pattern layouts that make this look wearable. In addition, I love how the pattern is being used on garments. Gone are the days of the print being used on Garth Bookes style western button-downs. The pattern can now be seen on everything from delicate dresses to bikinis (The H&M bikini below is one of my favorites). The print has also been mixed with other ethnic patterns to create a more tribal feel.
